Dr. Oliver Simpson MBBS DCH FRACGP
Dr. Simpson is a GP with a special interest in skin cancer. He qualified in 2008 gaining his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with Distinction from The Peninsula Medical School in the UK. After 2 postgraduate years working in the Royal Cornwall Hospital he moved to Bundaberg and commenced work at the Bundaberg Base Hospital spending a year in Emergency Medicine and 18 months in Paediatrics.
In 2013 Dr. Simpson commenced his GP training in Bundaberg and simultaneously studied his Diploma in Child Health through the University of Sydney. He completed his GP training in 2015 becoming a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners.
During the ensuing years Dr. Simpson developed a passion for skin cancer surgery and decided to undertake additional studies to expand upon his skills. From 2020 to 2022 he undertook the Professional Certificate of Skin Cancer Surgery Principles, the Advanced Certificate of Skin Cancer Surgery Principles and the Complex Certificate of Skin Cancer Surgery Principles all of which are accredited through Bond University and together make up the Diploma of Skin Cancer Surgery which Dr. Simpson completed in January 2023. Dr. Simpson has also completed further education with the Skin Cancer College of Australasia. In 2021 he completed the Certificate of Dermoscopy and in 2022 he completed the Advanced Clinical Certificate of Dermoscopy achieving a high distinction and won an academic scholarship for the highest mark achieved of all the candidates throughout Australia and New Zealand. In 2023 to 2024 he completed the Advanced Clinical Certificate of Skin Cancer Medicine and Surgery and became an accredited skin cancer doctor through the Skin Cancer College of Australasia.

Treatment of premalignant lesions with creams or cryotherapy
Photodynamic therapy
Biopsies
Excision of skin lesions from all body areas including the face, ears and nose.
Simple wound closure
Split thickness skin grafts
Halo grafts
Full thickness skin grafts
Multiple different types of skin flap
All procedures are done under local anaesthetic within the practice.
The service includes all necessary follow-up
All skin cancer types are managed with referral to more specialised services as needed
